DESIGN : Re-Creating New Product
Now, instead try to invent a new thing...it is possible to re-create the product that already there and 'proven' . We do love LEGO, but at the sametime it lost the aura...we don't feel any 'rush' to get a LEGO, maybe simply because we know that LEGO will always there in the toy store...while LEGO trying hard to offer a new package that suit certain market (star wars etc)- someone develop it to suit what market rave about...an IPOD inspired LEGO, and there are also Steve Jobs LEGO!! (I don't really care about that....wait until they offer me Anna Nicole series...)
Let's think about it...
What other thing than LEGO & IPOD that we could re-create it?
Here's the concept: Merge two great product into one. Lego act as strong foundation, it has a solid ground and proven product but at the same time loosing it's edge; Ipod is totally a fad with no (sorry Apple lovers...) strong foundation, it has a great extension possibilities (look at their accessories!!) . Now, combining those two product will create a better strong product (well, not at that stage in case of Podbrix)...
..you also can figure it out from SONY-ERICSSON team...BALLY-MERCEDEZ BENZ...

STRANGE WORLD - Lost Child and Emotional Connection
At 12.54 pm I received an email (typical forwarder email) about someone lost her child......suddenly I miss my children...
Now at 6.45 pm read the online news (www.detik.com) about the story of rapedand mudered child...that was the same child....
Email just make things smaller, and we...suddenly lives in a very conneting world, in a deeper sense of it, emotional connection.
To Feby's Family - my deepest condolence.

BOOK & Me - Architectural Theory.

" Vitruvius, the first of all architectural theoreticians, distinguishes between firmitas (structure streght), utilitas (usefullness) and venustas (beauty)"

Most of "us" (architect) know about all of this Vitruvius thing since college time, but how many of us really think or carefully see our work from this angle? And much more important, do we intruduce this principal to our client...our "source of energy"? we tend to keep on going to what's have been around and hardly find time to slow down and think about what we do...
Now, to make our design work well - or create a great result, we should push the principal further...especially while still in designing process...
Ask the questions:
Is my design/house/building;
- STRUCTURALLY; special? amazing? new technology? has new solution?
- FUNCTIONALLY: flawless? smooth? practical? smart?
- AESTHETICALLY: pleasing? spark emotional relation? has connection?
Function should understand the social activity of the user, not only physical...
Structure should embrace new technology or creative solutions....
Aesthetics should showing the image, the value, the representation of the user/owner....
See it again, think about it, again...and do something about it, NOW

I have several meetings in Bali today. Its about the opportunity to develop a new villas to sell. The meeting with local businessman was kind of discouraging, he told us by number about how many new development coming soon and afraid that it will becomes oversupply...
Now, for someone that thinking on numbers that's a correct way to do...but if we try to think a bit harder...it maybe work the opposite,
The more development created, it will drive the more competitive price, and naturally, more development falling into commodity...and because the price will be as low as it can be...the products outcome will be the same...because there's no room for improvement...and that's where the opportunity arise.. . How? it will a good timing for the development that arrives in a different and bold way...to become a star!...
Imagine this...you arrived in a costume party...no matter how crazyfunkysilly your costume, you will be just 'one of the clowns'...but if you arrived in 'normal' dress...you definitely stands out!
Think different. Right?

New Design Mobile Phone

Interesting, likely most of new product invented to perform it's basic function, as time goes by the function has more capability that it supossed to be, then....later the aesthetics part play in the last development of the product....think about cars (from basic model T to Ferrari), think about computer (from IBM early PC to latest Imac), think about MP3 player (from ugly creative to IPOD)....now if we try to make the same analogy, which product that right now still serve as it's basic function? maybe we can do something with it...

first day Ritalin effect
wow....very quick effect...everything slows down....my hands was getting heavy...when I stood, i felt my body weight tons...and my head also shut down....called my doctor asked whether it its okay for me to get Ginko Biloba (vitamin for brain) and he said okay to try....now that's a good combination...working for hours non-stop, never happened to me....and...my mouth dry...i have to drink alot...pee alot....and no appetite at all...but in my head, i still get into old habit..so i keep eating as usual..but it will make my diet program lot easier....

g'day, just starting my new blog, please mind my english...last time tried to blog but no continuity...maybe i'm too serious..now planning to make "daily" notes about everything in my head. Just have a 2 holidays, chinese and islam new year, planning to catch my works on hotel in Bandung and House in Pondok Indah...but so far no progress, seems I have a lots of time to kill but apparently it's impossible since my both child needed me...first day all of us sick and must stay in bed...and today just totally 'worthless' spending hours in office to wait a fax from perth that later they cancelled the fax. But manage to cool myself by reading some design books that will inspire me to design my next project....well' see...

Just killing time....i checked some names...when it based on Islam such Ibrahim, Muhammad, Aisha then it shows significant number after baby born 70-80's...and for Christian name Abraham, Moses etc... shows decline in the middle...around 50-60's and rise up after that...something to do with poeple feel about spiritual beliefs?

Good Rooster Year??
My friend told me to enter my office at 11.30am today....it's a "secret" advice from "you know who". that will bring luck for this rooster year....I NEVER believe or disbelieve for such thing...but the funny things i still "follow" any advice that no harm to do (well, I usually get in the office around that time too...the thing is, that it might be telling me that I will do anything to keep my business runs...glad to know that I do.
My car stopped at my office at 11.14 am, I almost forgot about it, while I'm not alone in my car (my partner sitting next to me) I just passed my office and pretend to buy something to eat nearby...he is pretty confused but I keep silence, otherwise we enter unnecessary debate...finally arrived exactly 11.30...and I told him after that...another thing I also told early in the morning to my fellow partners in other office, none of them follow...well.....we'll see... ;-)
